Summer News from your Ladies' Captain

Thu 21 Jul 2016

Firstly Ladies, thank you to all the Ladies who took part in the Ladies' Captain's Day on the 6th of July.  I hope you enjoyed the day and many congratulations to all the winners, especially Cheryl Ward the overall winner.
Thank you for the cakes and savouries you supplied for the halfway house. The putting competition, together with the cake auction and sale of balls, raised just over £100.

A quick catch up with events-

The Grace Norman - Unfortunately Ely were beaten by Brampton Park on the 13th of June (21/2 - 1/2).  The weather was very bad, which did not help, but a big thanks to Pat Nixon, Christine Ratcliffe, Jane Webster, Ann Mitchell, Greta Barclay and Anette Gautrey.  Thanks also to Liz Smith for organising the team.

The Division 2 meeting was held at Ely on the 14th June, organised by our own County Rep Jill Gamlin. The day went very well.

The Read Bowl was played on the 24th June, unfortunately Flo Read was unable to attend as she had fallen over and broken her hip.  She is making a very good recovery, and daughter Wendy attended in her place.  11 Ladies played golf and 16 Ladies attended the meal.  The winner of the Read Bowl was Christine Ratcliffe, with 28 points.

The Scratch Team continue to do well, beating Girton and Bourn.  The final match for them is on the 21st August at Ely against Bourn.  Your support would be most welcome.  A special thanks to Tina Broadley for organising things.

The Jean Wilkinson - Ely are doingwell and are through to the semi-finals. A huge thank you to all the Ladies who have played so far and also to their caddies.  The semi-finals will be played on the 9th September at Ramsey. Please come and support the team, they would appreciate it.  Thank you to Greta for organising the team.

I have had to cancel the match against Saffron Walden on 4th August due to other events.

The signup sheet is up for the Ladies/Juniors match on the 3rd August at 2pm.  It is important we got to know the juniors and make them parts of our Club.

Well done to Anne Webster for getting a hole in one on the second a few weeks ago.

The next forum is on the 20th August at 3pm, please let me know if you have any items for the agenda.

Enjoy the rest of the Summer, and happy golfing!
